Is a New High School Musical or American Idol Stage Show Coming to Disney-MGM Studios?

The old Hunchback of Notre Dame show has been closed for some time now. While I loved that show, I’m over my loss, and I’m looking forward to a new show hitting that stage in 2008. Construction has been going on for awhile now, and it’s set to be complete in 2008. With all that hammering behind Disney’s famous construction walls, rumors are running rampant about what will take the place of the Hunchback of Notre Dame Show.

Epcot Quick Tip: The Trains at the Germany Pavilion

Don’t forget to take some time to see the elaborate train display outside of the Germany pavilion in Walt Disney World’s Epcot. Technically, the train display can be found in between the Germany and Italy pavillions, but it’s considered an extension of the Germany pavilion. You can also buy model trains inside the shops at the Germany pavilion.

Holiday Lights Transform Cinderella’s Castle

Holiday Lights Transform Cinderella’s Castle

I tried to get a picture of the gorgeous new holiday lights on Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom last week, but my camera didn’t do it justice.  I decided not to post them because I didn’t think you’d really be able to appreciate how beautiful Cinderella’s Castle really looks with the new lights that transform it to look like sparkling ice is hanging from all the turrets and eves.
The effect is unbelievably magical and I really wanted to share it with readers of The Disney Traveler, so I decided to cheat and post a picture from Walt Disney World’s professional …read more

The Disney Christmas Parade Airs Tomorrow

The Disney Christmas Parade Airs Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Christmas Day, which means the annual Christmas parade at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will air on ABC at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern).  I love to watch the parade on television.  Last year, I was at the Magic Kingdom when the parade was being filmed.  It’s typically filmed a couple of weeks in advance, and it takes a full day to film it with the performers and floats stopping frequently for long stretches of time.  Frankly, it’s fairly boring to watch it in person.

Disneyland Welcomes New Monorail

Disneyland Welcomes New Monorail

Disneyland will introduce its first new monorail since 1987 in January 2008.  The new monorail arrived in Anaheim, California this week.  The new Mark VII monorail model is super modern looking.  No word on what it looks like on the inside, but if the outside is any indication, it will be sleek.

Disney-MGM Osborne Spectacle of Lights Recap

This year’s Christmas celebrations at Walt Disney World do not disappoint!  I went to the Osborne Spectacle of Lights display at Disney-MGM Studios on Thursday night and wanted to share some of the pictures I took.  It really is an amazing display!
