For the first time, my family and I watched the Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends show at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom this past weekend. My triplets are nearly three years old now, and it seemed like the perfect time to take them to a show where they could see forest animals close up. Unfortunately, we left the show with the consensus among us that it was boring.
In my opinion, the best hotel for families on Walt Disney World property is Port Orleans Riverside (formerly called Dixie Landings). Walt Disney World’s SpectroMagic Parade at the Magic Kingdom is extremely popular. It’s a fantastic parade held at night featuring Disney characters and floats covered in beautiful multi-colored lights. Disney music and dancers add to the magical feeling created by the lights.
Walt Disney World offers private, specialty cruises on the Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, Crescent Lake or Village Lake. Guests can choose from a variety of services during their cruise including delicious menus and excursions. Specialty cruises are held at night and culminate with a perfect view of one of Disney’s spectacular fireworks shows.
If your little girl loves Disney princesses, then a great way to make her feel like a princess herself is to attend a Perfectly Princess Tea Party at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Every day (except Saturday and Tuesday) from 10:30 a.m – 12:00 p.m., the Garden View Tea Lounge hosts a very special tea party that is simply perfect for princesses.
Walt Disney World’s fourteenth annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is set to begin on April 2, 2007. This year, it will run through June 3, 2007, and the theme centers around pirates and princesses. A huge topiary of Captain Hook’s ship will be a festival highlight, and a long list of special events and fun attractions will ensure the two-month festival is full of excitement.

Recently, the Walt Disney World website was revamped, and the new site is cumbersome and difficult to navigate. There is no easy way to see a list of pricing for all ticket options. Instead, users have to fumble through a variety of screens and videos to find the information they need. Several Walt Disney World resorts offer guests the opportunity to rent speed boats, pontoon boats or canopy boats to explore the lakes and enjoy the scenery Disney is famous for, but only Disney’s Contemporary Resort provides water sports for thrill seekers. Disney guests can visit Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre at the Contemporary Resort and sign up to try parasailing, jet skiing or other exciting watersports. It’s a great opportunity for families with older children or teenagers to try exciting activities in a safe environment.

Now Walt Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios visitors can “Get in the Game” in a pep rally inspired by the hit Disney movie “High School Musical.” My family and I were enjoying a late afternoon snack by the lake at Disney-MGM Studios yesterday afternoon when suddenly a huge float came out of nowhere carrying cheerleaders, basketball players and other performers dressed as high school students. Music from the Disney made-for-TV movie, ”High School Musical,” blasted from speakers from all directions around the main focal point of Disney-MGM Studios, Mickey Mouse’s sorcerer’s hat.
