Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden at Epcot

epcot-minnie-mouse-butterfly-garden-2.jpgThe Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is in full swing at Walt Disney World.  This afternoon, I brought my triplets back for the first time this year.  One of their favorite parts of the Flower and Garden Festival last year was Minnie’s Magnficent Butterfly Garden.  I wasn’t sure if they would be as enthusiastic about the butterfly garden this year, but they were.  They screamed with excitement and were amazed by the many colorful butterflies they saw.

The most interesting part of our visit to Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden today was learning the triplets actually remembered it from a year ago when they were not quite 2 years old yet.  As soon as they saw the large screened in structure that houses Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden they were trying to jump out of their stroller to get there faster.  The butterfly garden is located in the same place as it was last year, and my triplets knew it.  As far as they were concerned, I could not get them there fast enough!

Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden is simply a large screened in house set up along the path between World Showcase and Test Track.  On the outside, it’s decorated with gigantic butterfly topiaries, and on the inside, it’s filled with colorful flowers and of course, butterflies.  There are several kinds of butterflies represented, and it’s not uncommon for them to land on guests.  In fact, a butterfly landed on our stroller last year, and my son actually picked it up in his hand.  Luckily, he didn’t squash it.

Children of all ages will enjoy stopping by Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden during a day at Epcot’s Internatial Flower and Garden Festival.  After watching butterflies, kids will enjoy stopping by Pluto’s Play Zone, which is located just outside the butterfly garden.  An adorable topiary of Pluto and his dog hose greet guests as they enter this unique, outdoor climbing playground, which is most appropriate for preschoolers and older children.

Love your site! We’re going to Florida in June for my daughter’s Make A Wish… she wants to swim with dolphins, so we’re going to Discovery Cove and MAW is also giving us tickets to Disney and Busch Gardens. Our girls are older, 13 and 16, so we’re trying to decide which places they will enjoy the most, so I’ve been visiting many Disney type sites and blogs. Yours is very informative! I’ll come back again when it’s closer to when we are leaving!
