Walt Disney World Lost and Found Really Works

disney-lost-and-found.jpgOn Friday, July 13th, my family went to the Grand Floridian Hotel for a character breakfast followed by several hours at the Magic Kingdom.  As we were driving home, we realized that one of my sons had lost his favorite stuffed animal, Leopard, somewhere in the Magic Kingdom or in the Grand Floridian (or on the boat ride between the two).  Luckily, I have a spare, but I wanted to find the original.

I checked online and found the number for Walt Disney World Theme Park Lost and Found.  I called on Friday night after we got home, but Lost and Found closes at 7:00 p.m. (before I called), so I had to call back on Saturday.  Also, Lost and Found doesn’t have items cataloged until the day after they are found, so I had to call back on Saturday for that reason as well.

On Saturday afternoon, I called and left a voice mail at both the theme park lost and found and the Grand Floridian lost and found.  I assumed my message would be lost in the voice mail abyss and never returned, but first thing Sunday morning, a Disney cast member returned my call to report that my son’s “much loved” Leopard had been found.  That was wonderful news, but the icing on the cake came when the cast member told me she would mail Leopard to me the same day, free-of-charge.  Leopard should be home by Tuesday, and I don’t even have to drive over to Disney to pick it up!

Needless to say, I was thrilled with the service from Lost and Found.  So if you ever lose anything while you are on Walt Disney World property, don’t assume it’s gone for good.  Call Walt Disney World Lost and Found.  There is a good chance you’ll get it back even if you’ve already returned home from a vacation.

Here are some tips for calling Disney Lost and Found.

  1. Call Walt Disney World Lost and Found at 407-824-4321 between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eastern time.
  2. Press zero to speak with a Walt Disney World operator.
  3. Tell them you need to speak with someone in Lost and Found.  They’ll ask you where you lost your item to direct you to the correct Lost and Found department.
  4. Once connected to the appropriate Lost and Found department, don’t hesitate to leave a voice mail if a live person doesn’t answer.  Make sure you tell them when the item was lost and where you think it was lost as well as a good description.
  5. If you’re not sure where your item was lost and it could be in more than one location, just call back and ask the operator to be connected to the next Lost and Found department on your list.  For example, if you lost your item in a hotel, you’ll be directed to the individual hotel’s lost and found department vs. the lost and found department for the four theme parks, etc.

It’s nice to know there are still honest people out there who return found items, and it’s wonderful that Disney has a great system in place to reconnect owners with their lost items.

This is a great story. Disney has asked me to put together a web tv package about Disney’s Lost and Found and would love to use your story. Please contact me at holly@more-publicity.com if you’re interested. Thanks

This didn’t work for us. My granddaughter stayed at All-Star Resort “Jazz” September 3, 2007, room 9634, and left her white Winnie the Pooh baby blanket behind. We called at 6 pm that day to report this. The reservation was in the name of Michelle Speno. It is now October 20 and my daughter is still calling to get this beloved item returned.

    Can you help?

    thank you very much,

    Martha A. Neri

    Hi Martha,
I’m sorry, but I don’t work for Disney. My experiences come only from visiting the parks. I’m so sorry to hear that Disney couldn’t find the blanket for you.

I lost my cell phone while visiting and couldn’t put my finger on the exact day or location (afterall, I wasn’t exactly using it alot!). When it didn’t turn up while I was packing, I got really worried that it was gone and that I’d have to replace it. In my mind, my cell phone was probably already being auctioned off on Ebay… or worse… at the bottom of the Seven Seas Lagoon!

This morning, I called Lost and Found for the parks. I spoke with Bob, who asked me the make and model of the phone and also the phone number. Within seconds, he came back to me and said that the phone had been found in Epcot and that he’d go ahead and mail it back to me TODAY…. PLUS Disney would pick up the shipping!

Bob said that when Disney found a phone, they somehow got the phone number off of it and could look it up in their data base using that information.

So…. don’t be a Cynical Sally like me… give it a try! You might just be surprised at the honesty of the general public and at Disney’s efficiency!

Do you have any suggestions if Disney can’t find what your looking for? Are there any on-line sites where lost or found items can be posted? We were at Epcot on Thurs., Mar 27,2008 and I lost a Kodak Easy Share camera. I am not even so upset about the camera itself. It has 4 days of vacation pics including many of our special needs daughter. We have video, but no pics of her with Mickey! At this point if someone found and wants the camera, I would love to just get the memory card back!

My son accompanied his high school choir for a singing competition April 2 – 6, 2008. While enjoying his day in Hollywood Studios he lost his wallet. He returned home, in Virginia, very upset and down on himself for his lack of responsibility. I found this website made the phone call and THEY HAD HIS WALLET, it contained everything, even his money !!!! Now this trip will be even more memorable to him. By the way…they won the competition.

Tell him congratulations from The Disney Traveler!

I lost my sunglasses in Star Tours. I didn’t realize for an hour or so later. We went back and asked, they let us in the ‘room’ or whatever you call it to look for it. It wasn’t busy so that one wasn’t being used. It turned out to be in their lost and found box though.

I lost my beloved EPCOT hat on Splash Mountain on a recent visit. The cast members I notified when exiting the ride were rather brusque and unsympathetic. The cast member I spoke to at city hall was better, and did offer me a free replacement hat, but the one I lost is irreplaceable and I’ve had no luck getting it back. I’ve been pretty depressed about it ever since. I just get a runaround calling them about it. I know it was my own stupid fault for forgetting I was wearing it, but how hard can it be to find a white hat on a dark ride?

I’m trying the Disney information above and hopefully it helps. My 11 year old daughter lost her Kodak digital camera yesterday, 4/20/08 between the times of 10am-1pm. Everyone asks “where did you lose it”. OK, is that a stupid question? She remembers last having it at Downtown disney. She even showed me a picture she took of the Lego people. I’m hoping an honest person turned it in. If anyone has any information, please email me back!! She was so proud of herself taking her pictures and now they are all gone and she is devastated. I’m hoping there are still honest people out there!

Just returned from our visit to WDW. We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside, my 9 yr old son sat his nintendo DS case with all his games down while he played a game and of course forgot to pick it up again, within minutes it was gone. We had to leave to catch the flight home so we only had a short time to look for it. I hope there are other people out there like me who takes everything I find to lost and found and my very upset son will get his games back. Its been more than a day now and nothing yet, I am going to try to call again tomorrow as they were closed by the time we returned home today…May 13/08

  14. May 13th, 2008 | 7:56 am

Jennifer, Definitely call again. It takes at least 24 hours for lost items to make it to the “central” lost and found area at Disney World. There is still hope that an honest person found them and turned them in. I have my fingers crossed for you and your son!

My family accidentally left a red and black camera bag with our Sony camcorder and an Olympus Camedia still picture camera (yes, I was silly enought to use one bag to carry two cameras) on the back of a chair at Casey’s Corner Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom on May 17th. This was the last day of our trip and the cameras both had our special Mother’s Day memories on them from May 11th. (all video and still photos are gone) No one has turned them in as of May 21st so we figure we probably crossed paths with the one bad apple in the park that day. We just wish someone would return the memories that were on the cameras. Nothing more. Overall Disney folks are great, we realized though now the hard way that the more value of the items that are lost, the less of a chance of getting them returned if anyone other then a Disney employee finds them.

My Family was at Magic Kingdom on May 8th and between leaving Space Mountain and walking to the castle to watch the fireworks my camera was gone, it was a Blue/Turquoise Sony Cybershot Small Camera that was in a White Case that had a blue Color stripe and a White strap. I have called the Lost and Found so many times to no such luck! :-( I had tooken our Vacation pictures of my family from Sat. the 3rd thru Thurs. the 8th to which means I lost ALL of pictures I had tooken throughout that time period! I am just Sickened! I have 3 boys and my youngest is 9 months old so this was his 1st vacation to top it off! If anyone has any other suggestions for me please offer them… I would just do anything to have that memory card, as I have already replaced the camera! But those pictures were so priceless!!! The staff at Magic Kingdom was Great and we back tracked over and over with no luck. I literally realized it had fallen off the stroller or was tooken off the stroller within a 15 min time period but still had no luck! I would have done anything for a Disney team member to have found my camera! Please send any helpful information to me! Thank you so much! :-)

Carrie H, I’m so sorry you have not found your camera. I like to think that most of the people who visit Disney are honest, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. Sadly, even at Disney, some people are opportunists and will steal someone’s camera, including their memories!

    May 29th, 2008 | 10:13 am

Carrie, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your memories. I too, feel the same as you since we recently lost our camcorder and still camera. It may be early to say this, but I’ve talked to numerous people recently who have had cameras “missing” after coming off of rides. Could there be a theft “ring” of people starting to form that prey on innocent tourists within Disney? I know economic times are tough and many folks in FL get annual passes. I know because I lived there for 3 years. Maybe Disney Security staff should be made aware and step up a watchful eye. I know for a fact they have a ton of cameras all over that place. Is there more then they are saying to keep their “squeeky-clean” image? In the last few months I spoke to many who have cameras of all types go missing.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to WRITE to Disney Lost and Found? I recently bought a shirt that has the same logo on it as the hat I lost at WDW last trip and was thinking maybe if I sent them a picture it might help them identify my lost item.

Ya’ll do understand that no one can help you with your problems and that you’re just posting for no reason, right? Comments are supposed to be when you COMMENT ON THE STORY such as good, bad, I feel for you, that’s great; not; well I lost a (fill in the blank) do you know where it is?, or I lost a (fill in the blank) I hope there are honest people., or I lost a (fill in the blank) can you help me?. COME ON PEOPLE!

Everyone needs a place to vent or look for hope. I invite all comments on The Disney Traveler as long as they are not spam, don’t contain profanity and don’t attack anyone personally (which reminds me, I have to post a comment policy).

Having lost things at Disney before (some returned, some not), I absolutely understand the grief and frustration it can bring.

Frank, some people who have lost precious memories are maybe thinking that maybe, just maybe, there’s a chance that this site will reunite. I recently saw another web site with a post from a young lady who found a camera in Disney World, took it home to another country, saw a young child in the photos, and was desparately trying to find the owner. Another poster directed them to Disney’s lost and found and the owner was eventually found, some 3-4 months later. Those who have lost can dream and hope can’t we? But then again I guess with the way the world is today, there’s no MAGIC left these days.

hi my grandson lost his stuffed toy its an artic wolf brown and grey in colour with a blue collar round its neck we think it may have been dropped on a disney bus or in animal kingdom we were staying in animal kingdom lodge on 05/18/08 we found a black prada purse in the hallway on the table next to the veiwing area on the second floor it had a bundle of dollars in it and disney tickets we handed the purse into the reception and advised the staff where it was found. Ihope whoever lost the purse got it back and had a good holiday, i hope Disney also find my 4year old grandsons wolf and return it as we have had many tearful nights the wolf was bought from seaworld 4years ago when he was a baby but we did not have time to go to seaworld to get another one as after going to the lost and found everyday for a week we had to catch our flight back to Scotland even if they still sell them outside the artic helecopter ride. lets hope disney can work some magic and make this year the year my grandsons dreams came true.

We lost our Canon PowerShot A630 digital camera on Friday June 13th (how ironic) at Magic Kingdom, in area of riverboat, Haunted House, Hall of Presidents. Hundreds of photos and memories lost. I didn’t see a reply to the earlier question from Rachel B about whether anyone knows of any other avenues besides calling Disney Lost and Found (which we have tried repeatedly). Any other suggestions?

  25. June 24th, 2008 | 8:32 pm

    Carol,

I’m afraid I don’t know of any other way to retrieve lost items from Disney World other than contacting the Lost and Found group. I guess the success of finding an item is completely dependent on the honesty of the person who found it and whether or not they turned it in. My son lost his $400 glasses at Port Orleans Riverside this evening. So far, they have yet to be found. I’m still crossing my fingers though.

Celebrating our five year anniversary, my husband and I embarked on our first ride at Epcot…Living in the Land. I took great pictures, showed him my shots as the ride was ending, and that’s the last time I remember having my camera. Like other people, someone else can have the camera, but the pictures were priceless: my son’s first Easter, his first birthday. It’s a Nikon Coolpix camera. I have called Lost and Found, gone to Guest Relations, all with no luck. I’m sure it’s gone, but I hate to lose hope. Any suggestions?

    Mari,

Don’t give up yet. Keep calling Disney’s Lost and Found. As Susan has mentioned numerous times, things can turn up days, even weeks later. Sometimes items aren’t located for a couple of days, and then have to make their way to the main Lost and Found department and be checked in Keep calling every day. It still might turn up. If it’s found after you leave Disney, I understand they will pay to ship it to you. Best of Luck!

    Hi everyone,

I just found this website about lost & found.
Recently I just lost my digital camera Sony DSC-T70 on our honeymoon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 26, 2008 (Memorial Day). I lost it around 8:45 pm in front of the Hat , before Fantasmic begun. At that time, I put my camera on the floor, while my cousin take us a picture with his camera. But that time we’re at rush to saw Fantasmic, so I forgot to take my camera on the floor. I realize I’ve lost my camera like 5-10 minutes after, but when I come to the location I’ve lost it (in front of the Hat), it’s already gone. I’ve already call the Disney Lost & Found. But unfortunately they didn’t found my camera. My camera type is Sony DSC-T70 (color black, with whole touch screen on the back, slider to turn it on in front, with silver strap & no case). And with a Sandisk Ultra II Memory Stick Pro Duo 2GB inside. And the pictures inside the camera is picture of me with my wife (we are asian). At that pictures, I wear pink T-shirt and my wife wear brown tank top (with a letter “Palua Coast” written at the tank top) & white short. The whole pictures in the camera start from morning at Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure (I take a lot of pictures around the Marvel Super Hero Island). And at the evening we went to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So I think the last picture in my camera is picture of my wife around the HAT (almost dark at that time).
I hope someone who had found it, will contact me via email at Imanuel0912@gmail.com, and I willing to give a reward to anyone who found my lost camera. Actually, right now I only care about the pictures inside rather than the camera. I will post our picture at that time (from my cousin camera) soon (so anyone who found my camera, could match the picture inside).

    Thanks and Regards,

    Imanuel A Yosephine

I lost my camera (9/4/08) a Kodak Z740 in black camera bag with 900 pics of Disney and our cruise on the Wonder. It was last seen on Mears bus headed back to the airport but I was hoping someone may have looked at the pics and would turn it back to Disney. We stayed at the Poly and I took pics of our room including the door with room number.
As far as Frank goes he is obviously not a sentimental person or has never lost anything of value (to him). I still hope it will Magically turn up somewhere. I figure posting anywhere may help. There are actually lost camera web sites just search lost cameras and check. There are honest people that have posted on them. Good luck eveyone as I am sick over my loss. It was my dad’s first trip to Disney at 70 and my parents 46th anniversary. I also would just like my cards back the camera can be replaced.

    Terri,

Do not give up hoping. Keep calling Disney’s Lost & Found. I have read stories of people getting items back weeks, even months later. Your story is like so many others. Hang in there. I know when we lost our cameras (yes, 2 in one bag – a still and a camcorder) we were devastated. But hearing from folks on this post made us feel a bit better. I still smile when I do hear a camera and its owner are reunited.

Have you tried calling Mears? Someone might have given it to the bus driver and they might have it. The number for them is (407) 422-4561.

    Best wishes and Good Luck!

  33. September 19th, 2008 | 10:01 pm

Terri, I’ve got my fingers crossed that your camera shows up! Since I wrote this post, I’ve had positive experiences with Disney Lost and Found and things have been returned, and other things have not. There are still some honest people left in the world. Mark’s suggestion for calling Mears is a great idea. Good luck!

Juliet, Have you tried calling the Disney Lost & Found office? I would call 407-W-DISNEY and ask them for the direct phone number to their lost and found. (Sorry, I don’t have it handy) Also, have you tried contacting your service provider? I know that some service providers may be able to trace the location of the phone for you. However, you may need a police report for them to do this. But I’d definately ask. You never know! Best of Luck!

I lost my glasses in the very dark line of space mountain. The cast member let me go thrugh the fastpass line again to look, but it was so dark I couldn’t even practically see my feet! I had all but given up hope when I came across this article about calling lost and found the next day and I’m sure glad I did because they found my glasses and even offered to ship them. Thanks for sharing your story and thank you wdw!

    Mark H,

The same thing happened to our family! We live in Brazil and we lost a still and a camcorder on december 19th, all in the same bag in The universe of Energy in Epcot. 5 minutes after the ride I came looking for them and it wasn’t in the benches before the ride (where u watch the initial movie) nor in Lost and Found. They told me to go to Guest services, I went twice the same day and called the number the next day to no avail. I fell the same way, the cameras can be replaced, the problem are the pictures we lost! We lost a memory chip with about 10 photos! The bottom line is, it’s easy to be honest when someone loses a blanket, not when something more valuable is available. I respect everybody’s hope, but I think if it doesn’t turn out right away, the chance of getting it back are slim… good luck to all!

Disney Lost and Found only has one telephone, so it is very difficule to get though. Also, I cannot find a website to lodge a request. I have neard that people are surprised that only 25% of items are reclaimed from Disney. Considering 30 million peole visit the WDW parks every year and that it is so difficult to reach anyone – I am surprised that it is as high as 25%.

Lost a walkie talkie at Disney World, and it was there the next day at Central Lost and FOund near ticketing and transportation.

TOday, checking the mailbox, I was surprised to find a baseball cap that my son had lost at Disney Hollywood Studios. They must hav taken great notes of the conversation when I first checked, becuase I didn’t even follow up on it, and it “magically” appeared today.

Disney has some top notch procedures in place. It is reallly a case study of excellence in management.

I went to Florida in July and it was great, untill I lost my purse. I left it on one of the rides in Animal Kingdom and was devastated because it had $500 and £30.00. When i realised that i had forgotten it on the ride i went back to get it but they wouldn’t let me back on due to security reasons.I had to borrow money of my auntie as i did not go with my parents. Anyway i returned back and 3 months after i got a check through the post from Disney for $600, i was so happy. My advice is if you loose anything report it straight away and give a detailed description about your item, dont give up hope.

That happend at me in the Dinosaur Ride at the Animal Kingdon. The thing is that i got a 8G memory in where i got more than 1200 pictures of my last three months at EEUU. I call Lost&Found and they dont know anything.

Just got back from Disney World and like some many people on the website lost camera the last day of vacation. I have already contacted lost and found. I ma extremely upset at myself for losing it and discovered maybe 30 minutes later that it was gone. Its not the camera itself, its the pictures. So just in case, it was a red Polariod Digital Camera model T730 in a black case. It was lost in the Magic Kingdom on March 16th around 5pm near Splash Mountain. Don’t care about camera but if you know of someone who might have discovered this itme please encourage them to at least send me the memory card.

Hi there hope the person who lost the camera I have is looking here. We lost our camera at Blizzard beach in Dec 08. I left all my info but never heard a thing. Today I received a package in the mail from Disney with a camera they believe to be mine. It is the same type of camera but I could tell it wasn’t mine due to the strap. I charged it using my old charger and looked at the pictures. There are no identifying images but the pictures show a mostly asian family at Epcot and Blizzard Beach and there is a video clip of a child’s birthday. If this is your camera please contact me with some info. I’d love to get it back to the right person.

Unfortunetly, lost and found did not work for my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter. She lost her lifelong “bunny” at Disney World Florida on January 5,2009 – just before the park closed. We were at the lost and found every day until January 10,2009 with no luck! I made phone call after phone call to the lost & found but not one time did any person answer the phone. When I left my name and number on a recording, not one time did I receive a phone call back. When I called the customer relations manager, somehow they got through to lost and found and I was told everything from that day was given to “goodwill”. I did not give up – I continued to call the customer relations number knowing each time I would probably get a differnet person. Yes, I was right! I was told that someone would definetly call me back but here it is more than a month and a half and I still have not heard from ANY person from Disney.
I was told there was a huge Disney warehouse that all the lost and found go – I was told everything went to “Goodwill” – I was told that some kid probably took bunny – I was told that the employees buy the lost and found items after a certain lenght of time –
I offered to fly back to Florida to look myself through the lost and found but was told that was impossible – Why is something that is so important to a child, nothing to any of these employees or company? This little girl loves her bunny and just want her back. She keeps asking if we can go back to get to get her.
If anyone that reads this has any suggestions please acontact me. I check our goodwill stores in the area where I live – I just feel in my heart that someday “bunny” will come home where she belongs.

I too lost a video camera on April 8, 2009. I was on the Aladdin Magic Carpet ride and the camera bag strap slipped off my shoulder and I got off the ride not knowing I left it. My husband went back 15 minutes later and checked with staff at the ride and nothing was turned in. I hate to think this way…..but is it possible for staff to take it? I say this because I went back 45 minutes after my husband to ask the staff again and the person working the exit gate was gone. I just find it hard to believe that another family would take something like that and keep it…….we are all there for the same reason…..hoping to capture the magic moments on tape! I did report the make, model and serial number to lost and found and still no luck as of today:(

Hate to hear about your cameras. Doubt it was an employee. Those rides are videoed and it would be way to easy for them to isolate employees who work the ride exit.

Sadly there are many people visiting the Disney Parks daily who don’t “embrace the magic” and are always seeking opportunity to benefit from preoccupied guests. That is why Disney has their own jail in a tunnel under the Magic Kingdom and some no nonsense security people that most guests will never see.

    May 4th, 2009 | 11:26 am

So how would I go about having someone check video surveillance…..I know exactly when and where I lost it and have a very small window of time when it disappeared and when I went back to look for it. I have pictures of me on that ride and you can see when the strap was on my shoulder and then when it slipped off. Like I said, my husband was back to that ride within 10-15 minutes and the guy working the exit was gone. That was @ 11:15am….where did he go??? Anyone on that particular ride would have had small children most likely….makes me think they would have turned it in to the employee at the exit….the one that disappeared within 10 minutes. I am happy to hear that the rides are videoed but is someone watching for stuff like that or does it need to be reported first. Thanks for your help and information. Still devastated about my camera:(

I wont bore you with the deatils other than to say a blackberry phone was lost and calls every day for the remainder of the trip to lost and found yieleded zippo. I dont know if its worth holding out hope, but to read that Disney has 6 employees devoted to lost and found items, and there are in excess of 1000 items found daily that need to be logged in, i can see where you might need to be a little patient perhaps. Still very frustarting though since it wasnt 10 minuntes when the item was noticed to be lost, and they had a changing of the guard at the store just visited.

We had our stroller stolen last Thursday at the 2nd Fantasmic show at Hollywood Studios. The staff were most unhelpful. We were among the first 25% to leave the show and by the time we got to stroller parking it was gone. This was a brand new double jogging stroller that we had purchased less than a week before specifically for this trip. We parked it in the appropriate place and were assured it wasn’t moved. Once we realized it was gone, we got to the exit of the park so we could scope out people leaving. But the staff would not radio the exit people to keep a look out, which would have probably at least gotten the thieves stopped at the exit. There were no strollers similar to ours left at stroller parking so it wasn’t an accident. plus, our stroller had several hats velcroed around the handlebar so it would have been hard to mistake it for your own. there was stuff in the stroller, though nothing overly valuable. Guest services was not helpful either. We finally got them to give us comp rentals for the rest of our trip (my kids are 9 months, 3 and 5 1/2). We also got them to replace the hat we bought for my son earlier that day. But that was it other than “call lost and found.” so we’ve called every day since but no one has turned it in yet. The stuff that was in it hasn’t been turned in either.

It really tainted the rest of our trip, that’s for sure.

I am still searching for “Bunny” as stated in my letter dated April 7th,2009 – My heart goes out to all that have lost treasured items at any of the Disney Parks – And to the family that lost their stroller – Come on people – if you can afford to get your family into Disney – can you not afford to purchase your own stroller? and souvenirs? That is unbelievable! The one place everything is supposed to be so magical – I see no magic inside the employees that work in the lost and found. Is there really someone that works in that department? I have yet to hear from anyone from Disney at all- I did hear a voice on the other end of the telephone promise me someone would definetly call me back if I gave them my name, number and description of our dearly loved “Bunny” – All the stories I have read about people that have been let into the lost and found area to look for their own items – I begged them to let me look the first day Bunny was lost – I offered to fly back to Flordia if they would let me look, but was assured someone would contact me. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about Disney World – GOOD LUCK to all the people that have lost anything there. I still hope that a kind worker in the goodwill store where all the unclaimed items end up will find Bunny and call the telephone number on the corner of her blanket! I know it won’t come from Disney World – I hope it comes from the real people in the world that work at the GOODWILL – where good will really means something.

On May 10th I lost my Fuji Finepix F650 digital camera. I think I left it on the bus from Port orleans French Quarter to the Magic Kingdom. When I tell people my story they all think the bus driver took it. I’d like to think the employees are honest. I’ve called Central Lost and Found everyday and so far no camera. The resort staff told me that everything they find is sent to the central lost and found. I’m home now and have been checking ebay and craigslist but I doubt my memories would be on the camera if it turns up on one of those websites. After reading some posts I am still hopeful it will be returned. I’ll keep calling and cross my fingers.

I have heard that there are literally thousands of things that are turned into lost and found daily. I can only imagine the time and manpower it must take to sort all of these items. Some readers have commented that they heard about their belongings months after it was lost. I know that doesn’t help now, but hopefully your camera will find its way home.

Is it me or does it see that Disney migh have an issue with attracting the wrong types of people to their parks. Im not trying to cast Disney in a bad light, but to sell season tickets that allow anyone entry into their parks year round and than turn around and acknowlege that there arent always the best people visiting its parks, seems a bit of contradiction. I don’t think Disney is talking about tourists and I seriosuly doubt genuine visitors to the parks wouldnt turn in a lost item right away. The cost for an opportunist with a season ticket, unlike tourists, is minimal and what better place to take advantage of unsuspecting people than those on vacation at Disney. Im beginning to wonder if there isnt some sort of theft ring throughout the parks, and to be honest from all the stories including mine, Im not sure I will feel comfortable ever going back, or even recommending Disney as a family place to visit for any of my friends.

I can say this much. As you can see from a previous post on here I FOUND a very nice necklace (worth over $600) and have been trying to advertise it on every Disney site I can find. I started out by calling Lost & Found. I have a friend that used to work for Disney Lost & Found and she told me what would happen before i even called. They (disney l&f)told me to send them the item and they would take it from there..ha!! My friend told me that the Disney employees help themself to whatever is good in the lost and found. I asked the lady if no one claimed it what would happen. She told me I could put a claim in for it and might get it back if no one claimed it after like 6 months. Who would get the necklace if they didn’t grant me it’s ownership after 6 months?? I told her I was not interested in sending it to them but I would provide a full desription (with pictures) and when they found the owner to give them my info, and I would get the necklace back to the owner. The girl said “no thanks” and offered me no help, I told her it would nt be hard to find the owner if they called in, but she had NO INTEREST in helping me after I declined to mail it to her. Hmmmmm doesn’t seem like they care much to really help people find their items does it?? Not if they don’t get to keep the items themselves… I still scan these bords waiting for someone to post something about the necklace, but without Disney’s help being a go between I don’t see it working. I will keep the necklace, and continue looking, I won’t expire my offer in 6 months like Disney. If I find the owner 5 years from now I’ll still return the item. I know how devastated I would be to loose a similar item and I am sure it has sentimental value as well. So sorry for everyone who lost stuff. Maybe try putting an address inside your camera next time and the person can return the memory card anonomously even if they coose to keep the camera? I don’t know, I seem to be the only one who found something trying to return it. Disney should provide a lost & found website for us! That way everyone would be in one place instead of 20 different unauthorized Disney sites. The lost & found shouldn’t DEMAND that you return the tiem in order to help you find it’s owner if your not comfortable with it. If anyone from Disney reads this I CHALLENGE you to explain why this is all such a mess! I am trying to RETURN an item, and you gave me no help!! Shame on you people!! In the end it’s the Disney cast memebers who benefit from all the good stuff in lost & found. Disney is allowing theives in the park for cheap on the daily to steal our things!! I didn’t loose anything but I doubt I’ll go back in fear of loosing something I care about. And to the person that lost a diamond necklace valued at over $600 on or about the first week of October 2008..unlike at Disney I will keep your necklace for you as long as it takes you to find it. Please contact me with description for it’s safe return to you. Peace and God bless!!

I was one of the lucky ones! We lost our camera on a Thursday in Animal Kingdom and had it back one week later. Two hours had passed before we discovered it was missing. We knew exactly where we had it last–Pizzafari at lunchtime. We went immediately to guest relations and they did not have it. The woman working there was very nice and kept trying to convince me not to give up that it takes time for items to make their way through the lost & found process. She opened a claim for me and gave me a number to call the next day. I called central lost & found on Friday and they did not have our camera. We flew home on Saturday and on a whim I called one last time late in the afternoon. The man on the phone asked me to describe the camera and pictures that I knew were on the memory card. After being on hold for a few minutes, he came back on the line and said yes, they had it and would mail it to me! Disney paid to send the camera to us via certified mail and we had it 3 days later. I really was hoping that someone chose to do the right thing when they found it, but I was not convinced that they did. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to have those 200 pictures that I thought were gone forever. The camera was not that important but the photos were irreplaceable. Thanks to Disney’s lost & found, I have them back. Don’t give up hope on your items, keep checking back with central l&f. Also, I found that calling later in the afternoon, that I did not have to hold. The call volume must be higher in the mornings.

We were at Disney 7/6/09, it was a lovely trip UNTIL I went to take out my camera and take a few last minute pictures and relized my camera was gone. The last place I recalled seeing it was at the restroom area in Fantasy Land. I immediatly ran back to where I was sitting and within a five-ten minute span the whole scene changed. There were new people there and everything seemed so different and surreal. I went to the Town Hall nothing and then I have been calling lost and found every day since. I talked to someone there today and I was telling him I ran across this message board and I wasn’t giving up hope of recovering my lovely memories. he then informed me that if an item isn’t turned in immediately the chances of recovery were slim. I was like THANKS!
Bummer for me I hope it turns up and I hope there are more good recovery stories.

I lost a very nice pair of Bvlgari Sunglasses(Tortoise shell w/crystal circle on ear pieces)on July 29th, around 7:00PM, on the tram, Minnie parking lot, row 38. As we were leaving the park the sky opened up and in the hustle to the car I left my sunglasses on the tram. I spoke to Ken in lost and found and no one has turned them in. My husband bought them for my birthday and I am still hoping that someone will be kind enough to return them to me.

My daughter lost her camera in Animal Kingdom on July 31, 2009 around 1:00-1:45 p.m. We were in the jungle trek looking at the banteng and black deer when she last remembers having it in her hand. I have filed a claim with Disney Lost and Found and they told me they would keep looking until Friday, August 7, 2009. I gave a very good description of the photos on the camera but no luck yet. It was a pink Sony Cybershot camera. I am beginning to think someone picked it up and took it home with them. I would just like to have the card out of it. I lost my black Sony Cybershot camera while riding Big Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom yesterday. I had the strap on my wrist (completely my fault, I realize) and it flew off on a sharp turn. I did see it land so I knew it didn’t fall off the edge. I spoke to a woman when I got off the ride and she said she would let them know to look for it and then referred me to city hall to file a claim. The woman helping me was very nice and helped me with the claim. She told me to go to Lost and Found today around noon because all of yesterday’s items would be logged in by then. Upon arriving at Lost and Found, I found out that the camera was not found and that the woman from city hall never even filed the claim. The man there helped me to file a new one and keep checking. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I flew right to Disney World from a camp I was volunteering at this summer for underprivileged children, so there are over two hundred pictures on there that I’ve yet to upload. I would do anything to have just the memory card back. Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions!! Thank you so much.

Hi, I lost my camera bag (but not the camera) in the Magic Kingdom on the night/morning of August 9/10 in the late night hours. I went to lost and found on the morning of the 11th and the bag and dead batteries were there, however the 4GB card which I filled Sunday night was missing. The lost and found personnel were helpful but the delay is getting the filed cards from the parks to the office. Also, lost a pair of prescription glasses in the shark tank at Typhoon Lagoon on the 9th (not a good day) but they have yet to surface. Was so excited to see the camera bag seemingly intact that it was greater disappointment the SD card was missing. Hoping that someone did not take the card out and delete my pictures to load theirs. Lesson learned is download pictures everyday if you can.

My daughter lost her camera after riding the Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road ride at Disney World on. She said the employee she notified didn’t seem to care what she was saying and did not look in the seats while she waited during the next five rides. She reported it lost to the Lost & Found and it was not found. I told the personnel in Lost & Found about the employee not looking and he told me that was what they are supposed to do…not look. He said it was up to a guest to turn it in. OH MY GOD. We will be calling over the next few days and HOPE IT IS FOUND. I am sick to my stomach that we lost a good camera…and more so that someone possibly found it next to their feet and stole it.

I lost my Cannon camera on August 24th 2009 in Japan at EPCOT.
It was my daughters 11th birthday. I had put it down on the counter to make a purchase and must have left it there.
I realized within minutes and went back to look. It was not there.
I asked the girl behind the counter, and she said nothing had been turned in.
I called lost and found the next day and it had not been turned it but I filed a claim with them and gave all of my info.
I called again the following day and asked if it had been found?? The man asked me if I had filed a claim. I told him yes but was not able to locate it in the system…..so I did it again.
Bottom line is my camera has yet to show up.
I am so sad. I had so many pictures on that memory card….
I am sure it must have been stolen….I guess it is the happiest place on earth…

I had lost my Sony cypershot expensive camera on August 23, 2009 in morracco in Epcot. It was my daughters mommy and me trip. I had put it down to rest for a second and I realized it was missing and went back right away and of course it was gone. I asked employees and people in the area but of course Nothing. I filed a claim at guest releations in Epcot and at Theme park lost and found. I kept calling but they keep telling me “nothing was found”. I am soooo upset I had lost alot of pictures that cannot be replaced. I can’t believe that people now a days don’t have heart. Why steal what do you get out of it. Well I guess in my case expensive camera… WELL so much for a the happiest place on earth!!!!

I can sympathize with the lost cameras. I was fortunate that my camera was not in my lost camera bag and I’m pretty sure if it was I would not have seen it again. I just can’t believe that with the expense people take on to go to Disney that they feel the need to steal camera cards or cameras. I just can’t believe they have no heart. My camera card was removed from the case and as it is now over a month I am resolved that it is definitely gone. The card was full and locked so it was a deliberate action that would have deleted my pictures from 5 days of Disney parks. In the meanwhile the glasses never turned up from the shark tank either. I must say that my experience with lost and found has been good as I was calling once a week to check and after the third week was advised that if the items had not turned by then up they most likely will not. I still have a slight hope for the glasses but know that the card gone.

Found a camera at Magic Kingdom on Sept 7, 2009. Viewed pics to try to locate owner, but never found them. My friend works at Disney and said lost and found items are sold to employees. Cheap stuff and items lost at hotels are most likely to be returned. Expensive items are gone quickly. Photos included Baptism Ceremony. If this sounds like yours contact me with camera description.

This bog is complete BS. If you read my original post from October of last year about a necklace I found, the moderator of this bog edited it. It originally told about how the employees of lost and found take all the good stuff. My friend used to work for them and told me that herself. THAT is why I wouldn’t send the necklace to Disney after they insisted they would only help me find the owner AFTER I sent the necklace to them. They said if no one claimed it, I could put in a claim for it and might get it back. HA!!!! It’s diamond and platinum…I’m sure that be taken IMMEDIATELY!! This blog is probably run by Disney! Their lost and found is a joke unless your stuff is worthless!! I feel bad for the owner of the necklace I found. I am sure they reported it to disney..but still won’t ever get it. I still have it if someone can describe I will send back. I found it Oct 08. Disney is as crooked as any corp. Wonder how long this TRUTHFUL post will stay up before it gets edited. Who ever edited my original post YOUR VIOLATING MY RIGHTS!!!!!
