Sneak Peak at Toy Story Mania Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Nearly a year ago, I published a post announcing that a new Toy Story ride is coming to Disney-MGM Studios which included concept art for the new attraction. A lot has changed in a year. For one, Disney-MGM Studios is now called Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Second, Toy Story Mania is getting closer to opening, and the first interior picture was released this week by Disney.

The picture shows Disney Imagineers testing the new Toy Story Mania ride vehicle. According to WDWNews.com, riders will wear 3-D glasses then “shrink” to the size of toys where they’ll follow a midway-themed route. At each game booth, riders will use the spring-loaded guns on their ride vehicles to shoot at animated targets. It sounds like fun!
Toy Story Mania is scheduled to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this coming summer and at Disneyland later this year.
What do you think of the new picture of Toy Story Mania?

It looks similar the Toy Story ride in Tomorrowland (I think that’s where it is) where you hunt down Zurg. That was a surprisingly fun ride, so I’m all for hitting this one.
I agree, Hil. When I first saw the concept pictures, I was so surprised that Disney would create such a similar ride as Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Orbiter in the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland using another Toy Story theme. I can’t wait until Toy Story Mania opens to see if it’s different enough from the Magic Kingdom version to make it worthwhile.
