Walt Disney World’s Pleasure Island is the place to be for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. On March 14, 15 and 17, 2008, Pleasure Island will host a St. Patrick’s Day party from 7:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. Events include live music, stilt walkers, leprechauns and more. If you’ve been to the Disney website to try to find ticket and resort prices for Walt Disney World, you probably spent a long time trying to find the information you needed, wading through slow flash animation and watching videos just to get a few simple prices. I am not a fan of the way the Disney website is set up. It looks pretty, but it’s very hard to find useful information.

In May, Disneyland will open its Innoventions Dream Home in partnership with Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., software maker LifeWare and homebuilder Taylor Morrison. The home will be 5,000 square feet and filled with cool digital, innovative features.
In the 1960s, a similar “House of the Future” was built in Disneyland (see the picture above). That house was made of plastic and looked very out of place. More hints and news about Disney’s Toy Story Mania ride that’s coming to Disney’s California Adventure and Walt Disney World (Disney’s Hollywood Studios to be exact) this summer has been leaked through an article in the New York Times. Here’s the description of Toy Story Mania from the New York Times:
“Riders, wearing 3-D glasses, board vehicles that careen through an old-fashioned carnival midway, operated by characters from the popular “Toy Story” film franchise. Vehicles stop at game booths — 56 giant screens programmed with 3-D animation from Pixar — and riders play virtual-reality versions of classic carnival games.”

ESPN the Weekend is a popular annual event at Walt Disney World. This year, ESPN the Weekend will be held on February 29, 2008 – March 2, 2008 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Donovan McNabb and Drew Brees will be among the 70 professional athletes and ESPN personalities attending ESPN the Weekend this year.

Guests planning a trip to Disneyland Paris can now download the Disability Guide to Disneyland Paris from the Disneyland Paris website.
The guide includes helpful information from the time you arrive at Disneyland Paris through your time at the resorts and parks. It also includes maps of all three Disneyland Paris parks (Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park and Disney Village) with details about attractions, shops and restaurants.

A long time ago, families stayed at the Disney Treehouse Villas in the Downtown Disney area during their vacations. So what’s up with them now?
For several years they’ve been used to house Disney cast members who are part of the Disney International College program. They are located on land that is deemed wetlands, which means the treehouses cannot be replaced. However, Disney did submit paperwork back in December 2007 to redesign the exterior so the footprint of each treehouse villa takes up just 95′ instead of over 300′ which will significantly diminish the amount of flood encroachment for each villa.

I first reported the rumor that an American Idol attraction might come to Walt Disney World back in December, and a press release from Disney confirmed the rumor today. A Disney American Idol attraction is definitely coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008, and guests will be able to try-out, perform, judge and watch the competition on a set reminiscent of the famous Fox TV set.

Spring 2008 will be an exciting time at Hong Kong Disneyland when four new attractions and one well-known attraction open.
Muppet Mobile Lab
Those beloved Muppets scientists, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker, will travel along the streets of Hong Kong Disneyland in their Muppet Mobile Lab. They’ll stop to interact with guests during their journey around the park. Dr. Honeydew will also demonstrate some experiments with the help of audience members.
