Disney World Stroller and ECV Rental Prices Sky-rocket

Effective today, April 6, 2008, prices for ECV (Electronic Convenience Vehicle) and stroller rentals at Walt Disney World will go up, and some of those prices will go up A LOT!

The new prices are as follows:

  • Single stroller per day: $15
  • Double stroller per day: $31
  • Length-of-stay single stroller: $13 per day
  • Length-of-stay double stroller: $27 per day
  • ECV per day: $45 per day with a $20 refundable deposit

I take my 3-year old triplets to Walt Disney World at least once a week and very often we rent a double stroller. They’re easier to maneuver than any other double or triple stroller I’ve owned and the kids can easily climb in and out of them. While they refuse to get into a regular stroller, they don’t mind getting in the Disney rental strollers. They’re still young enough that they get tired walking but they’re big 3-year olds, and it’s hard for my husband and I to juggle carrying all three of them when they need some extra help. Lately, renting the double stroller has helped us make our visits easier. Looks like that won’t be happening anymore with the new double stroller rental fee twice as high as it used to be.

We are FL Resident Seasonal Pass holders and frequently take the kids to Disney World. I have always rented the double stroller rather than bring ours and deal with the folding/unfolding on Disney transportation. The fees were justifiable previously. The new increased price is way beyond acceptable! I am guessing that over time an investigation will show that the increased price has not significantly improved revenue as more people will be bringing their own stroller. Big mistake Disney!

I rented a double stroller but at those prices won’t be doing that next time!!! I am tempted to get a kiddie trailer – the sort that you tug behind a bike, but that has a handlebar and “boot compartment” and leave it in our villa for us and our guests to take and use instead! It folds flat, with easy quick release tyres so goes in a boot easily. With young children we find it invaluable on long walks and think this will be the way to go in future. I can’t carry my little ones far either and the parks are HUGE. Also all the snacks and clothes doesn’t need lugging around, just stays in the trailer :0)
