We have been to both MK and downtown Disney. We prefer Downtown because it is not so crowded. The one at MK was an after thought and is to the right of Cinderella's Royal Table restaurant and is in a tiny space for the amount of makeup/styling chairs. When our daughter was 5 we did the Castle Package and got photos which where done inside the building that has Tony Restaurant. My daughter had a lot of fun and still talks about her very special day. What you must remember is everything is extra. If you don't want the extra tiara, wand or shoes you can say no to those. At 5 my daughter sat for about an hour with no wiggles. At 6 we just got the Coach package and loved having the makeup and hair done. The tiara is a metal tiara with a metal comb that keeps in your hair with the ton of hairspray they use. If you go on your child's birthday they get a special birthday sash to wear. Also my daughter was able to wear her hair the same way the next day and then we washed it out with Neutrogena shampoo. It is a dark orange in color and really gets out all of the hairspray. It is expensive, but can be less expensive if you bring your own shoes and outfit from the Disney Store on sale and pack it in the suitcase without your daughter knowing and then setting it out for your daughter to find that morning!

We’ve been twice once when my daughter turned 5 and then again at 6. Great idea to wait and visit on your last day -- I have seen some "little princesses" literally wilting in the heat! I am sure she was beautiful!!

Sounds like a wonderful experience. While I was disappointed I didn't get the pictures of my six year old daughter at the castle all done up, she still had the time of her life! This was one last surprise I had up my sleeve for her (I told her she had a surprise but wouldn't tell her what it was). The expression on her face was priceless when she realized she was about to be pampered with nail polish, make-up & a glittery hairstyle of her choice. I booked the appointment the morning of our departure. It worked out so well that way. Since we were leaving, she was in the air conditioning the whole time so the make-up stayed in place. She got compliments from everyone; guests & cast members at the hotel, on the Magic Express, at the airports and best of all she got to show it off to her Grandparents when we got home that night. I wanted them both to have that moment. We washed the make-up off that night, but since her hair had so much hairspray & gel in it, I let her sleep in it. With some minor touch-ups in the morning, she was able to show it off at school the next and enjoy the compliments from friends & teachers. She was so beautiful & it was worth every penny I paid, along with the hefty tip I gave her fairy godmother. What an amazing end to a wonderful vacation!

I got the Crown Package at Downtown Disney because MK had no openings.
