Earlier this year, Disneyland dedicated the lead horse on the Disneyland carousel to Julie Andrews and gave it the name Jingles. The horse’s hand-painted features include Julie Andrews’ initials on the saddle and a flying silhouette of her Mary Poppins character. It really is beautiful, and you can follow the link to see the picture of Jingles at full-size, so you can see the Mary Poppins accents.

Today is the day that the newly refurbished Enchanted Tiki Room attraction opens in Tokyo Disneyland with a new name, The Enchanted “Tiki Room: Stitch Presents ‘Aloha E Komo Mai!” and a new audio-animatronic performer – Stitch from Lilo and Stitch.
According to the Tokyo Disney website, Stitch will join the Tiki birds, Tiki gods and guests by “blundering” through the show. People who have seen the show are reporting online that it’s cute. Get ready for an Alice in Wonderland push over the next few years at Disney theme parks around the world. Tim Burton will direct a new Alice in Wonderland movie starring Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, which will begin filming in November 2008 and is due to be released in 2010.
According to Scifi.com, the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland, “will be shot with live-action and performance capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3D.”

Rumors have been flying across the web that Disney is creating a system that will allow Walt Disney World guests to make Disney Dining reservations online. I did some poking around today to find the latest info related to this rumor and here’s what I dug up:
The new online reservations system will be available in late October 2008.
Travel agents and guests will be able to make dining reservations through the new online system.
The new online reservations system will allow people to make dining, recreation and resort reservations.
Scholastic is sponsoring a contest that will reward four children with Walt Disney World vacations! One winner will be selected from each of four age groups eligible for entry in the contest – Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten-Grade 2, Grade 3-Grade 5, and Grade 6-Grade 8. Here are the details:
The contest is open to children in grades PreK-8 who read and log 4 or more books as part of the Scholastic Summer Reading Buzz program. The contest prize includes:
