]]> disney cruise disney magic Lots of Disney news has been coming from the Orlando Sentinel during the past week or so.  Today, I have news to share about the Disney Magic cruise ship and cool upgrades that are coming!

  1. A new 385-square-foot Fantasia-themed splash pool will be added onto the Mickey Pool on deck 9 of the ship, and it will be called Mickey’s Splash Zone.  As you’d expect, it will include elements related to the Sorcerer’s Apprentice part of the Fantasia movie with fountains shaped like stars and moons!  An area for babies in swim diapers will also be added.
  2. New 22-inch LCD TV sets on swivel arms will be added in the cabins, so guests can watch television from any part of the their cabins.
  3. New waterfalls will be added to the two hot tubs in the pool located in the Quiet Cove adult area.
  4. New chairs will be added to the Cove Cafe.
  5. New registration areas will be added to the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab kid areas.  The new registration areas will add a radio frequency identification system that will allow kids to check into and out of the kid areas by swiping wristbands that include a tag in them over a sensor.

These sound like some great changes, and they make me want to go on a Disney Cruise right now!  I’ll have to settle for going to the Magic Kingdom tomorrow.  Actually, that’s not settling, is it?  It’s even better!  But a vacation would be nice.

]]> disney cruise line alaska According to the Orlando Sentinel, Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve in Alaska announced last week (after CruiseCritic.com broke the news) that Disney submitted a contract proposal to launch a new Disney Cruise in Alaska sometime between January 1, 2010 and September 30, 2019 (that’s quite a timeframe, but that’s what the report says).

What do you think?  I think a Disney Cruise to Alaska would be so cool!

]]> So you think your teenager won’t have fun on a family vacation?  No matter what you suggest he or she simply grunts and looks the other way?  Or perhaps he or she is more vocal with his or her distaste for all things that include the words “family” and “vacation” in the same sentence?

Whichever situation describes your teenager, never fear – your teen is quite normal.  Luckily, the Disney Cruise Line offers a perfect compromise – activities catered to teens!

During a Disney Cruise Line vacation, teenagers can get some of that “alone” time or “friend time” that they so desperately need.  On the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, The Stack and Aloft, respectively, let teenagers feel more like adults with dance parties, movie nights, interactive games and a bar that’s stocked with smoothies, sodas and other non-alcoholic drinks.   Sounds like fun.  But wait, you have to be a teenager to get in!

]]> Toy Story – The Musical premiered on the Disney Wonder on April 10, 2008.  There has been a lot of hype about this show.  Seven original songs were written for the show, which features live actors and large-scale puppets telling the story of Woody and Buzz Lightyear in just under one hour.

Following is a video from the Orlando Sentinel which gives a short sneak peak at the show as well as some background information from Disney Imagineers.

Looks like a great show.  I need to go on a Disney Cruise soon!
