Disneyland Trivia

Disneyland Trivia

Here’s a fun trivia question I found in the most recent issue of Disney Insider that I have to share with The Disney Traveler readers because it’s new info to me!
What actor and comedian’s first after-school job was selling guidebooks at Disneyland and later working at Merlin’s Magic Shop on Main Street?
Leave a comment with your answer.  If the correct answer isn’t given within the next several days, I’ll publish a follow up post with the answer.

Disneyland is Magical But is it Green?

I’ve written about Walt Disney World’s certified green hotels on The Disney Traveler before, so I was excited when Liz Lewis of b5media’s Traveling the Green Way blog offered to write a guest post that highlights some of the green efforts at Disneyland.  Without further ado, here is Liz’s guest post….
It’s always been known as the magical kingdom.
But can it also be called the green kingdom?
According to Frank Dela Vara, technical directory of Disneyland Environmental Affairs, it’s something that they are definitely working on.
These days, the cars of Main Street run on compressed natural gas, the train runs on soybean oil, and there …read more

Julie Andrews’ Horse on the Disneyland Carousel

Julie Andrews’ Horse on the Disneyland Carousel

Earlier this year, Disneyland dedicated the lead horse on the Disneyland carousel to Julie Andrews and gave it the name Jingles.  The horse’s hand-painted features include Julie Andrews’ initials on the saddle and a flying silhouette of her Mary Poppins character. It really is beautiful, and you can follow the link to see the picture of Jingles at full-size, so you can see the Mary Poppins accents.

Changes Already Coming to Indiana Jones Secrets of the Stone Tiger at Disneyland

Changes Already Coming to Indiana Jones Secrets of the Stone Tiger at Disneyland

The new Indiana Jones show, “Secrets of the Stone Tiger”, has only been opened at Disneyland for about a month, but changes are coming already.
The changes will take place in the choreography of the Indiana Jones show.  Three direct punches will be replaced with pushing and shoving.  Apparently, audience reactions to Indiana Jones directly punching other characters, particularly the female character, Col. Dr. Irina Spalko, have been negative.
Direct punches will also be removed from the Indiana Jones stunt show in Adventureland.
What do you think?  Should the punches be removed or is Disney being overly-sensitive?
