Halloween at Hong Kong Disneyland

Halloween is coming to Hong Kong Disneyland and a bunch of spooky events and activities are planned. You can view a cool Hong Kong Disneyland Halloween video on the Hong Kong Disneyland website to learn all the details, but here’s a run down of what’s going on:

Hong Kong Disneyland Website Gets a Facelift

The Hong Kong Disneyland website got a much needed facelift. The new site includes all the flash elements you’d expect from a Disney website bringing with it the slow loading fans have come to unfortunately expect from Disney websites, but it also adds a wealth of features and information that were missing from the previous version.

Visitors can learn about the various attractions, hotels, rates, special events and more. There is even a great interactive park map!

You can also book your vacation through the website. There are actually some good deals going on right now. If you stay for one night, you can get a free day at the park, or you can enjoy a second visit this summer for only HK$100 more!

Take a few minutes to poke around the new Hong Kong Disneyland website. You just might find yourself planning your next vacation there!

Video of Hong Kong Disneyland Adventureland

Unfortunately, Hong Kong Disneyland has been a disappointment to Disney in terms of visitors. I found a cool video on YouTube today that shows Adventureland in Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s great to see the sites, but at the same time, it’s sad that there are so few people there.

Rumor has it new attractions are slated to open at Hong Kong Disneyland in the coming years. Hopefully, that will help boost attendance.

High School Musical to Begin March 7th at Hong Kong Disneyland

Earlier this month, I wrote about several new attractions coming to Hong Kong Disneyland, including a High School Musical show. Disney has announced that the new “High School Musical: Live” show will debut at Hong Kong Disneyland on March 7, 2008.

The High School Musical performers will dance down Main Street, U.S.A. then put on a high energy performance that includes songs like “What Time is It?” and “Getcha Head in the Game.” Sounds like the show will be very similar to the High School Musical Pep Rally at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

New Attractions Coming to Hong Kong Disneyland

Spring 2008 will be an exciting time at Hong Kong Disneyland when four new attractions and one well-known attraction open.

Muppet Mobile Lab

Those beloved Muppets scientists, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker, will travel along the streets of Hong Kong Disneyland in their Muppet Mobile Lab. They’ll stop to interact with guests during their journey around the park. Dr. Honeydew will also demonstrate some experiments with the help of audience members.

High School Musical

A mobile stage will travel along the Hong Kong Disneyland parade route with performers encouraging guests to join in singing and dancing. This sounds very similar to the High School Musical Pep Rally at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

Nemo Submarine “Turtle Talk”

This interactive show works the same way that Turtle Talk with Crush works at the Living Seas pavilion in Epcot at Walt Disney World, but it’s mobile and shown on the side of a submarine (see the picture). Crush talks directly to guests, and guests can talk back to him in a real conversation.

The Art of Animation

This sounds similar to the Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World where guests can learn about Disney animation, view artwork, sketches and more.

It’s a Small World

The classic ride is finally coming to Hong Kong Disneyland, but this version of It’s a Small World will be a little bit different. More than 30 Disney characters will join the dolls in the attraction, including Peter Pan, Aladdin and Mulan. The Hong Kong Disneyland version will also have an expanded Asian section, a new Middle Eastern section and a new North American section.

Hong Kong Disneyland Unveils New Outfits for Mickey & Minnie Mouse

Designer Vivienne Tam (a Hong Kong native) has given Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse stylish new outfits to celebrate the Chinese New Year at Hong Kong Disneyland.

The celebration doesn’t stop with new clothes. Hong Kong Disneyland has been filled with decorations, food and more to honor the Chinese New Year all in an attempt to attract more guests from mainland China. The goal is to bring more cultural elements to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005 but attendance has been lower than the Disney Company and the Hong Kong government had hoped. There are also discussions going on about expanding the park to make it more attractive to potential guests who have been known to complain that Hong Kong Disneyland is too small and lacking many of the big attractions found at other Disney theme parks around the world.

Hong Kong Disneyland Celebrates the “Year of the Mouse”

This year, Disneyland Hong Kong guests can celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year like never before. The Year of the Mouse celebration will be held from January 22, 2008 – February 24, 2008 and will include a variety of special events to make Disney’s version of a Chinese New Year celebration one to remember.

According to LaughingPlace.com, the scheduled events include:

Mickey Rockin’ in the Mouse Castle Show: Each day in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, Mickey and friends entertain guests with a show that features popular Asian pop music.
Salute to Mickey Statues: Celebrities will create eight life-size Mickey Mouse statues representing aspects of luck for the Chinese New Year.
Rhythm of Life Procession: Music, dancers, puppets and living art will appear on Main Street USA to entertain guests.
Mickey’s House: Keepsakes, clothes and food will be displayed.
Adventures in Fashion: Disney characters put on a fashion show of designs created by Vivienne Tam.
Delectable Bites and Dazzling Merchandise: Guests can choose from 80 food items and 70 specially designed merchandise items to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
