I received my Summer 2008 copy of “Mickey Monitor” (the Disney annual passholder newsletter), and I was excited to find some sneak peak tips about the new Toy Story Mania ride that’s opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World and Disneyland this summer. 
The ride is schedule to open in Walt Disney World at the end of this month.  I can’t wait.  Passholders can go to a Passholder Preview on May 10th-12th from 9 am to 7 pm each day and when they show their Annual Passes and Photo IDs, they can ride Toy Story Mania before it opens to the …read more

Just in case you were wondering how seriously to take the warnings outside of the thrill rides at Walt Disney World, I wanted to share a story that will bring the potential fear these rides might generate into perspective.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of those thrill rides that displays the typical warning sign at the attraction’s entrance stating that people with heart conditions or other medical problems should not ride.  However, warnings are not posted suggesting that people with weak stomachs might want to avoid Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.  I’ve seen more than one person …read more

As I was exiting Playhouse Disney Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, there was a group of Disney cast members and about a dozen children playing with hula hoops just outside the attraction.  In the center of the activity stood two cast members talking with the Disney CMO Dream Job finalists. 
 
As you can imagine, I was very excited to get a chance to see the Chief Magic Official finalists in person, and I’m happy to say that they were all very nice, friendly and more than willing to pose for a picture for me when I asked.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World replaced the original Playhouse Disney Live on Stage show that starred characters from Bear in the Big Blue House, Stanley, Jo Jo’s Circus and Winnie the Pooh with a new cast that features characters from some of the most popular shows currently on the Disney Channel during Disney’s morning Playhouse Disney segment.

The Stars and Cars Motor Parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World has been officially replaced with the Block Party Bash parade, which features Disney/Pixar characters. The new Block Party Bash parade opened on March 6, 2008 for a cast member preview and will remain in preview mode until its official launch on March 14, 2008.

ESPN the Weekend is a popular annual event at Walt Disney World. This year, ESPN the Weekend will be held on February 29, 2008 – March 2, 2008 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Donovan McNabb and Drew Brees will be among the 70 professional athletes and ESPN personalities attending ESPN the Weekend this year.
Guests can mingle with professional athletes and their families during ESPN the Weekend, watch on-site telecasts with ESPN personalities and athletes, and try out the interactive sports zone.

I first reported the rumor that an American Idol attraction might come to Walt Disney World back in December, and a press release from Disney confirmed the rumor today. A Disney American Idol attraction is definitely coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008, and guests will be able to try-out, perform, judge and watch the competition on a set reminiscent of the famous Fox TV set.

If your daughter is a bit too old for a princess makeover at Walt Disney World’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Downtown Disney or the Magic Kingdom but she loves Hannah Montana or High School Musical, then this is the news for you.  Since the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has been such a hit, Disney is bringing a Disney Channel version to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Nearly a year ago, I published a post announcing that a new Toy Story ride is coming to Disney-MGM Studios which included concept art for the new attraction. A lot has changed in a year. For one, Disney-MGM Studios is now called Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Second, Toy Story Mania is getting closer to opening, and the first interior picture was released this week by Disney.
