I received a great tip for The Disney Traveler readers from Hil at Eco Friendly Driver yesterday that I want to share.

The Walt Disney World website has a great interactive calendar feature that let’s visitors see when crowds are typically smallest at the Disney World theme parks. If you don’t like crowds, then you might want to plan your 2008 Disney vacation during the dates in yellow/orange in the calendars pictured after the jump.
Don’t forget to take some time to see the elaborate train display outside of the Germany pavilion in Walt Disney World’s Epcot. Technically, the train display can be found in between the Germany and Italy pavillions, but it’s considered an extension of the Germany pavilion. You can also buy model trains inside the shops at the Germany pavilion.
Many parents would love to have some time to themselves for a romantic dinner or evening out dancing, but that can be hard to do when you’re on vacation. Disney had that in mind when the created the Kids Nite Out program at Walt Disney World. Parents can drop their children off at a Children’s Activity Center available at many Walt Disney World resorts or arrange for in-room childcare then enjoy some quiet time to themselves.
On Friday, July 13th, my family went to the Grand Floridian Hotel for a character breakfast followed by several hours at the Magic Kingdom. As we were driving home, we realized that one of my sons had lost his favorite stuffed animal, Leopard, somewhere in the Magic Kingdom or in the Grand Floridian (or on the boat ride between the two). Recently, my husband and I stopped with our triplets at the arcade at the Beach Club Resort during a rain storm. I wasn’t sure how my kids would react (they’re almost 3 years old), but we gave it a try anyway. As it turns out, they loved it! I thought we’d have a few more years of living arcade-free, but they haven’t stopped talking about the “bowling game” since we left. We’ve gone back twice since! I thought it would be a good idea to share my list of the top three arcades on Walt Disney World property.
Each Walt Disney World theme park (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom) has a Baby Center that parents of small children should use liberally (although they are open to all guests who can benefit from them). The Baby Centers include feeding areas for infants and toddlers with high chairs as well as kitchen conveniences like microwaves to warm bottles. There are also separate nursing rooms. It’s a great place to stop for a break and a quiet meal for your little one.

Most parents with a toddler and/or infant who are vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort will wrestle pre-trip with the quandary of whether to bring their own stroller to the Disney theme parks or to rent a stroller at the park entrance. The following pros and cons for each option should help parents make this challenging decision.
When I am on vacation, I don’t want to do any work, and to me, carrying anything is work, not to mention inconvenient. This is especially true at Walt Disney World where guests are continuously getting on and off theme park rides. I know from experience that packages are not only cumbersome on most Walt Disney World rides, but they can often be a complete nuisance. For example, trying to fit in a “rocket” on Space Mountain with anything larger than a cell phone is a challenge fit for a contortionist. Of course, I am exaggerating, but only a bit.
