Epcot’s American Adventure Movie Updated

by Susan Gunelius on September 27th, 2007

disney-world-american-adventure-pavillion-epcot.jpgThe movie inside the America pavillion in Epcot entitled American Adventure is open again after a much-needed overhaul.  I finally had a chance to see the revised movie last weekend, and the changes were minimal. The film was digitally remastered, so the quality definitely looks better than it has in many years.  However, the biggest change comes in the last few minutes of the film.  This is the part of the movie that plays over the theme song depicting images of famous Americans, landmarks and events.  Since September 11, 2001, it’s been painstakingly obvious that the movie needed to be revised.  The last scene shows a wide shot of the Statue of Liberty with the Manhattan skyline behind it.  In the unrevised version, the Twin Towers were clearly in view.

Also, the final images in the montage included a heavy saturation of people and events who were popular in the 1980s (the last time the film was updated).  Finally, the montage has been revised to include some more current Americans and the Twin Towers were removed.

Again, the changes are minimal, but the updated film is worth seeing next time you visit Epcot in Walt Disney World.
