High Speed Train Between Disneyland and Las Vegas Might Become a Reality

by Susan Gunelius on June 10th, 2008

Last week, President Bush signed a bill that includes $45 million to develop a high-speed levitating train that will run between Disneyland and Las Vegas.  A one-way trip would take less than two hours at speeds up to 300 mph.

Don’t get too excited yet.  The $45 million will be used to pay for environmental studies.  It’s not a done deal yet, but it sure sounds cool!

The main purpose of the train is to ease congestion on the main highway route between Southern California and Las Vegas, but I’m sure it will do a lot more than that in terms of generating business for both areas.

What do you think?  Would you take a ride on the high-speed levitating train?

I’d definitely take the train! I’ve taken the Acela Express from New York to Washington D.C. a few times (2 hours & 45 minutes) and that was very convenient. This might be off-topic, but I’m wondering if Amtrak has seen an increase in guests using the auto train from VA to FL?
