Mother’s Day Brunch at Epcot

by Susan Gunelius on May 14th, 2007

happy-mothers-day.jpgYesterday, my family went to the Mother’s Day Brunch at Epcot, which is held each year during the International Flower and Garden Festival.  This was our first time attending the Mother’s Day Brunch, so we weren’t sure what to expect.  We took our triplets and my parents, so we had a party of seven.  The triplets were free because they’re under three years old, which helped ease the pain of the high bill.  We prepaid for the brunch when we made our reservations a month ago.  The cost was $195 (including the tip) for our entire part, which was steep for our wallet.  Luckily, the event was worth the high price tag.

The Mother’s Day Brunch is held in the World Showcase pavilion between the Canada and United Kingdom pavilions.  This building is typically used for special events.  My husband and I watched a television show being filmed for the Food Network in this building a few years ago.  At that time, the building looked like a very large, simply decorated exhibit hall.  I was shocked to see the transformation that had taken place for the Mother’s Day Brunch.  The interior of the pavilion was decorated with a medieval theme.  Even Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse wore medieval costumes to pose for pictures with families.  A cast member dressed in medieval attire strolled from table to table playing a lute, and another cast member performed on a harp.  Decorations included a huge castle with figures of Belle and the Beast on one of the balconies.  Cinderella’s carriage was positioned perfectly for more family pictures, and tables and chairs were decorated with regal fabrics and roses.

Most importantly, the food was amazing.  I have never seen a larger buffet in my life.  There was so much food to choose from.  It would have been impossible to eat our full $195 worth!  We tried to taste everything we could from the elaborate breakfast, lunch, dessert and kids’ choices.  To make the event special for children, a cookie decorating table was set up for kids to let their creative juices flow.

We had a wonderful time at the Mother’s Day Brunch at Epcot, and we plan to go again next year.  If you’re at Walt Disney World for Mother’s Day, make a reservation.  You won’t be disappointed.
