Riverside Mill and Food Court Reopens at Port Orleans Resort

by Susan Gunelius on June 28th, 2007

Riverside Mill and Food Court was closed for refurbishment earlier this year and reopened in April.  I finally had a chance to eat dinner there earlier this week, and I was very pleased with the changes.

The location and ambience remains the same as you would expect from the family-friendly Port Orleans Riverside Resort.  The biggest changes were made to the food preparation and ordering area.  The stations where the food is prepared remain in their original locations, but the menu choices and preparation techniques are different.  There are seven main counters now:

  1. Bakery
  2. Ice cream
  3. Hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, etc.
  4. Pizza
  5. Pasta made your way (you pick all the ingredients and your meal is cooked in front of you while you wait)
  6. Gourmet sandwiches and soups
  7. Salad made your way (you pick the vegetables, dressing and chicken or meat and the salad is prepared in front of you while you wait)

I found the new set-up easier to navigate than the old design, and the food seemed fresher and tastier.  At our table, we had pizza, chicken nuggets with grapes and french fries, pasta with shrimp, chicken noodle soup, a fancy beef sandwich and a salad.  We all had positive things to say about our meals.

The refurbished Riverside Mill and Food Court is just one more reason I think Port Orleans Riverside is the best resort on Walt Disney World property for families.
