I have watched a number of great Disney specials on the Travel Channel. Every Disney special has been excellent! If you have a Disney craving, these shows can give you the Disney fix you need.
The April schedule for the Travel Channel is jam-packed with Disney-related shows. Here’s a run-down:

Updated Haunted Mansion Reopens at Magic Kingdom

Updated Haunted Mansion Reopens at Magic Kingdom

The Haunted Mansion has been closed for some time at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, but it reopened just in time for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to kickoff on October 4th.
I got to ride on The Haunted Mansion on Sunday, and I have to admit that I really liked the changes.  Of course, I don’t want to give anything away, but major changes were made in the opening hallway scene, along the staircase where spiders used to lurk on gigantic spider webs and in the attic.

Epcot’s American Adventure Movie Updated

Epcot’s American Adventure Movie Updated

The movie inside the America pavillion in Epcot entitled American Adventure is open again after a much-needed overhaul.  I finally had a chance to see the revised movie last weekend, and the changes were minimal.

The Fountain View Bakery has been closed for a long time in Future World at Epcot.  Finally, it has reopened as an ice cream shop!  Located in Innoventions West (just outside the main character greeting area and beside the main fountain), the new ice cream shop is in a perfect location in the center of everything in Future World.

Walt Disney World offers something for the whole family, including educational programs and exhibits.  The newest museum-like exhibit will open inside the American Adventure pavilion at Epcot this fall.
The exhibit will include authentic artifacts from well-known Americans.  Items will change periodically to keep the exhibit fresh.  Early visitors will see George Washington Carver’s microscope, Thomas Edison’s phonograph and motion picture projector, Abraham Lincoln’s hat, and artifacts from Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Benjamin Franklin, Mark Twain, Col. John Herrington and Sen. Daniel Inouye.
History lovers, make sure you include the National Treasures exhibit in Epcot’s American Pavilion during your next trip to …read more

The Haunted Mansion Gets a Facelift

The Haunted Mansion Gets a Facelift

The Haunted Mansion is currently closed for refurbishment (scheduled to reopen just in time for the Halloween season), but this time it’s getting more than a fresh coat of dust.  The latest annual passholder newsletter let the cat out of the bag and shared some sneak peaks into the changes that are coming.  Here’s what they’re saying:
When the attraction reopens this fall, the Ghost Host will be updated with new digital audio.  The new enhancements will allow the Ghost Host to move around the stretch room as well as in guests’ doom buggies.  But sounds are not the only updates …read more

Review: Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney-MGM Studios

Review: Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney-MGM Studios

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Walt Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios is a unique place for lunch or dinner.  This restaurant is themed after drive-in movie theaters that were popular in the 1950s.
The decor of the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater screams “drive-in” from top to bottom.  As your family is escorted to the dining area, you’ll immediately feel like you are at a 1950s drive-in movie theater complete with waiters and waitresses on rollerskates!

Playhouse Disney Live on Stage at Disney-MGM Studios

Playhouse Disney Live on Stage at Disney-MGM Studios

If you have a preschooler (or three like I do), you’re probably familiar with Playhouse Disney.  Most preschoolers love The Wiggles, Jo Jo’s Circus and the other educational and fun programs shown during the morning on the Disney Channel.  If that describes your preschooler, then you’ll definitely want to visit Playhouse Disney Live on Stage at Disney-MGM Studios during your Walt Disney World vacation.
