T-Rex Restaurant in Downtown Disney Opening October 14, 2008

T-Rex Restaurant in Downtown Disney Opening October 14, 2008

I was at Disney’s Animal Kingdom today eating dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, which always makes me think of the new T-Rex Restaurant that’s being built in Downtown Disney.  I realized I haven’t posted an update on the new T-Rex Restaurant since the beginning of June, so it’s definitely time for a new post.
I’m so excited for this restaurant to open.  My 4-year old triplets are really into dinosaurs right now, and I know they’re going to have a blast going to the T-Rex Restaurant when it opens on ….. October 14th, 2008.
What do you think about the new …read more

Save the Liberty Tree Tavern Character Dinner at Walt Disney World – Sign the Petition

As of January 2009, Disney will discontinue the character dinner held nightly at the Liberty Tree Tavern in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.  Currently, there are no plans to modify the pricing of the dinner experience at Liberty Tree Tavern nor are there plans to replace Goofy’s Liberate Your Appetite Character Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, which is a popular spot for families who want to dine with traditional Disney characters at the Magic Kingdom, including Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

To save Goofy’s Liberate Your Appetite Character Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, Disney fans started a petition …read more

Pleasure Island Clubs to Close

Pleasure Island Clubs to Close

Late last week, Disney announced it’s closing the nightclubs located in Walt Disney World’s Pleasure Island.  Six clubs in total will close on September 27, 2008 including Mannequins, 8Trax, BET, the Adventurers Club, Motion, and the Comedy Warehouse.

It will take two years for Pleasure Island to be recreated as a dining and shopping haven for a more family-friendly crowd.  According to Disney, the purpose for the redesign is to better meet the needs of Disney’s core audience – families.  Three businesses will stay after the transformation – Raglan Road (an Irish pub), Fuego by Sosa Cigars and Harley Davidson.

Last year, I wrote about the new T-Rex Restaurant that is being built in between Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island at Walt Disney World.  Today, I have a new construction photo that shows you the progress of the building as well as the promotional sign stating the new restaurant will open in the Fall 2008.

If you didn’t read my original post about the T-Rex Restaurant, definitely check it out.  This restaurant sounds incredible, and I can’t wait until it opens!

Review of Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Review of Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Yesterday, I posted a series of pictures of the Cape May Cafe at Walt Disney World’s Beach Club Resort. Today, I’ll share my review of the restaurant’s dinner buffet.
First, the Beach Club Resort is beautiful, so one would expect a great restaurant to go along with a great hotel. Overall, I’m disappointed by the restaurant choices at the Beach Club Resort and its next door neighbor, the Yacht Club Resort. The reason is there just aren’t enough of them, but I’ll save that for another post entirely.
The Cape May Cafe’s dinner buffet is a New England Style clam bake. It’s …read more

My in-laws were visiting this past weekend. They love seafood, so we thought it would be fun to take them to the Cape May Cafe clam bake and seafood buffet for dinner at the Beach Club Resort. As always, it was delicious! Check back for my post tomorrow where I’ll write my review of the restaurant, food and more.
For today, here is a review in pictures of the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort in Walt Disney World. Check it out after the jump.

Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort Opens Rix Lounge

Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort Opens Rix Lounge

In a move to cater to adults and convention attendees at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort, a new lounge/nightclub has opened called Rix Lounge. I was at the Coronado Springs Resort last night eating dinner with my family at the Pepper Market food court after spending a few hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so I stopped into Rix Lounge to get the inside scoop for The Disney Traveler readers.
Here is a picture of the outside of Rix Lounge. The entrance is directly across from the exit of the Pepper Market.

The arch doorways lead to a small area where greeters …read more

Review of the New Yak & Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Review of the New Yak & Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The new Yak & Yeti restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been fully opened for about six weeks now (although previews started on Thanksgiving), and I finally had a chance to eat there yesterday. I took some pictures during my visit, which I’m including in this post (sorry I’m not the best photographer).

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the newest table service restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but I left the Yak & Yeti very satisfied and very full!
