Tip to Save on Merchandise During Your Trip to Walt Disney World
I wrote a post called How to Save on Disney Merchandise several weeks ago that featured tips to learn about sales and discounts online at Disneyshopping.com and Disneyoutlet.com. Today, I want to share a tip to save money on Disney merchandise during your trip to Walt Disney World.
Visit Downtown Disney during your trip and be sure to stop by Mickey’s Mart - “Everything Ten Dollars and Under” to stock up on gifts for family and friends as well as your children. Mickey’s Mart is a fairly new store in Downtown Disney and it features a variety of unique, inexpensive merchandise. Each week, a different item is highlighted as the item of the week. You never know what products you’ll find at Mickey’s Mart.
Another exciting feature of Mickey’s Mart caters to elementary school-aged children. Surprise Grab Bags are available for $10 and under. A child who selects one of these bags for his or her purchase can enjoy the anticipation and excitement of opening a present. I’ve witnessed my nephews select a $5 grab bag in other stores over a much more expensive toy, simply because of the allure of the surprise. Not only will the child get a new toy or fun Disney item, but he or she will also get the enjoyment of unwrapping a present like it’s his or her birthday.
Bottom-line, before your family makes their final merchandise choices during your trip to Walt Disney World, take a look at the items available at Mickey’s Mart in Downtown Disney. You could save a lot of money.

Careful with the surprise grab bags. Especially kids with great imaginations tend to think great things are waiting for them in those little surprise bags. I have witnessed major meltdowns when Jr. spent his money on a surprise gift bag only to find out toy was much less spectacular then expected. You’ve been warned. :)

Scott,
Thank you so much for the information on the surprise bags. I’ve never purchased one, but I have always been so curious to know what’s inside. Your advice is sure to help many parents avoid the inevitable disappointment that surprise bags can bring.
